One day painting workshop with Melanie Wright
Title: Landscape painting with horses (8 places available)

TIME: 10am to 5pm
Melanie is running this 1 day course in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings of Taston, near Charlbury in Oxfordshire. Jo Corfield, who runs Hope Thru Horses has kindly granted access to the land where she keeps her large herd of horses and ponies.
The landscape painting possibilities here are numerous, with open countryside, beautiful trees, a brook running through the fields and groups of grazing horses. Melanie frequently sketches there herself and goes to enjoy the special atmosphere of the place and to be inspired.
Jo has a wonderfully eclectic group of horses, ranging from grey Welsh mountain ponies, to handsome Welsh Cobs, striking Connemara crosses, elegant retired polo ponies and miniature Shetland foals. The sketching and equine study possibilities are endless, with the different breeds, shapes and sizes and the interesting dynamics and interaction of the herd as a group which in such a lovely setting, makes for exciting compositional possibilities.
Melanie will give demonstrations and suggestions as to how to approach this wide ranging and engaging subject and suggests using a sketchbook to build numerous studies of movement, colour and the balance between landscape and equine subject matter. This will vary according to each student’s particular interest and response on the day. Materials suggested would be drawing medium and watercolour and the approach may be anything from representational to semi- abstract.
Melanie will bring appropriate art reference books and her own sketchbooks for ideas. The numbers on the course are kept small to ensure plenty of one to one tuition geared to the individual is received. Participants are asked to bring a packed lunch. A materials list, precise location details and times etc will be provided nearer the time.
